The drive chain for the escapement system. A rather brilliant system, when you see it in operation.
And a top video of the chain drive. (Above and Below)
A dissassembled typewriter. The body parts are removed and the structure is clearly visible.
Formerly known as "Magnificent Machinery" at drtypewriter.blogspot.com, this page contains posts of me and my typewriter collection that has been around since January of 2010. The typewriter collection consists of typewriters from most of the 20th century, and even the 1890s. Please enjoy.
Interesting! I see that I guessed right about the make of this typewriter. I have not had a chance to try one yet.
ReplyDeleteYou have to. I haven't tried a Touchmaster 5 (they look like this one only this one seems more expensively build and i think is the older version.) but i definitly love this machine.
DeleteIt types awesome, and i think i already put about 300/400 pages on it's clock singlespaced and it is definitly ready to do ten times that amount. It is a wonderfull machine.
That's certainly an eye-opener for me. It looks like the kind of quality typewriter you could easily overlook.
ReplyDeleteYes, at first sight you wouldn't think that much off it. Just a grey 60's office machine. But the guts are so awesome to see in action. That chain mechanism is awesome.
